EXiM Screen Protector-Ultra Protect (SPUP)

Anti-Glare Feature and Clarity Tests:

Exim Screen Protector-ultra protect (SPUP)provides anti-glare feature and retains clarity (reading accuracy).

We use a SONY CLIE T665C to demonstrate the 2 features for PDA users.

Anti-glare Test:

First, we cut a piece of half-screen size EXiM Screen Protector and attach it on the right hand side of the LCD screen.

Next, we cast some light on a white paper name card with texts printed in black, and placed in front of the screen.

Results:

1. With EXiM SPUP - reflections of light from the name is scattered and makes a blurred, less intensity white-image. And you can still read the name of the singer "/ZAC" of the MP3 song.

2. Without any screen protector - a clear image of the name-card with black texts is captured and is with higher light intensity. Also, the "TRACK 8" from the LCD display is highly disrupted, which is a typical glaring problem as your LCD screen would "act" like a mirror and has a perfection reflection of its surrounding objects.

Clarity Test:

In this test we use the same kind of setup as the Anti-glare test but we turn off all background light sources. The same screen shot is capture and a comparison is made.

The test is composed of 2 parts: Color change and Brightness Comparison

Color change test:

With EXiM SPUP - color change is less than 5% measure using Photoshop as RGB tester. We pick up several spots from the big purple text "0:00" on the right and also from the big purple text "1" on the left.

RGB Values with SPUP (scale of 0 to 255 per channnel):

Red Channel: 99 to 104
Green Channel: 101 to 108
Blue Channel: 136 to 146

RGB Values without SPUP (scale of 0 to 255 per channnel):

Red Channel: 98 to 107
Green Channel: 102 to 109
Blue Channel: 131 to 149

The difference is less than 5% if we take average of the selected values and divded it by 255.

Brightness Comparion:

We then use Photoshop and pick up the white color spots from the "PLAY" button on the right and the "NEXT TRACK" button on the left.

Brightness value: (scale of 0 to 100%)

With SPUP: 64%
Without SPUP: 66%

An overall decrease of 3% in brightness.

OVERALL PERFORMANCE:

SPUP has been shown to be very effective in scattering intense background lights to avoid disturbing (rather distracting) glaring problem. This feature is very helpful when you read your PDA on the bus and train with daylight coming from your surrounding that we will not be distracted and stay focus on the article you are reading.

In return, there could be a 5% shift of color and about 3% of brightness decrease that you have to take into account.
